“Either register an FIR against Lal Singh or get your force ready for Jammu Bandh for which day will be decided after Friday congregational prayers,” Choudhary Nazakat Khatana of Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar Bakarwal Youth Desh warned police.
Various Muslim organizations of Jammu region today threatened of “Jammu Bandh” in case police did not register an FIR against Forest Minister, Choudhary Lal Singh by Friday for his alleged communal remarks.
Lal Singh on May 18 had reportedly targeted a group of Muslim farmers of Jammu region by reminding them of ‘1947 massacre’ when they were discussing some issues related to their orchards with the Minister at his official residence in Gandhi Nagar here.
“Either register an FIR against Lal Singh or get your force ready for Jammu Bandh for which day will be decided after Friday congregational prayers,” Choudhary Nazakat Khatana of Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar Bakarwal Youth Desh warned police.
Khatana said it was highly unbecoming of a Cabinet Minister to terrorize the Muslims of Jammu region.
“Muslims of Jammu region are hurt with the words of hatred uttered by Lal Singh and they want the law of the land to prevail,” Khatana said, adding, “Not only Muslims, we have support of other religious communities as well.”
Meanwhile, Muslim Action Committee (MAC) also held a press conference here and condemned Singh for coughing venom against the Muslim community.
The MAC speakers said, “Ever since Lal Singh has entered the public life, he has proved himself as the most irresponsible person and his actions, deeds and language have been most indecent.”
“Same fellow (Lal Singh) had profusely abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was Congress legislator and it is very unfortunate that he is a Cabinet Minister from BJP ,” Muhammad Sharief Sartaj, President MAC said.
The speakers warned that in case Lal Singh is not shown doors from the cabinet, they will start indefinite protests after Friday prayers.
The Gujjar Bakarwal Students Welfare Association (GBSWA) also demanded registration of FIR against Lal Singh.
